When Hardwork Backfires: How To Get Back Up

“Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted.”Hard work opens doors to all, however, sometimes despite the massive effort put in, results are not obtained due to numerous reasons. This can prove to be very demotivating and disheartening and provoke someone to hit their rock bottom.

It is inevitable for someone to feel dismayed and discouraged. There is nothing wrong in feeling that way, it’s a humane reaction and you are entitled to feel so. All humans look for appreciation and recognition in something they have put their heart and soul into. It’s a natural disposition to want to be rewarded after putting in extensive effort into a task. Even when it comes to working on something you are extremely enthusiastic about if some sort of recognition or appreciation isn’t received, it hurts. When such a situation occurs, it is crucial to remain balanced and maintain your composure.

Reflect and recollect. Look back and recall every incident that led you to this specific situation. Think back on what went wrong. Note down specific things that you would like to work on differently this time. Make potential assumptions about why this could have happened. Were there specific parts you didn’t understand or weren’t clear about? Or you were there some mistakes you overlooked? However, don’t stress yourself out by overthinking either. Reflect on your work process and performance in a healthy manner. Come up with reasonable notions as to why the tragic situation saw the daylight. Once you know what went wrong, you know exactly what to work on.

Analyse the aim. Re-examine the focus of your work. What exactly are you trying to achieve? Narrow it down, make your aim as specific as possible so you know what exactly you have to work towards. This is also a good time re-evaluate whether previously what you were working on corresponded to your aim. Often we start with a singular image in our mind but slowly move away from it. Was that the case due to which your hard work didn’t achieve results? Once you are crystal clear with your focus, you will know which direction you have to work hard on, nothing’s stopping you!

Time and track. One major reason you may have failed previously could have been working extremely hard but not working smartly and productively. Spending an immense amount of time on something shouldn’t be as time-consuming is depleting your productivity and probability of attaining success. Note down what you exactly you have to accomplish and give it a timeline. Strictly adhere to these guidelines that you have made for yourself. This will help you to work more smartly and instantly boost your productivity levels.

Focus on the future. Once you are set with all, it is important to not let past experiences prevent and scare you for the next step. You shouldn’t completely erase the past events from your memory, heed to the lessons it brought you and use those to ignite the spark for a fruitful future.

I have experienced the same quite a few times in my school experience. It is extremely disheartening and destructing, however, I figured that cribbing and feeling guilty wouldn’t take me anywhere rather make it worse for me. I simply followed those four simple steps to reach my aim and urge you to do the same. It is important to remember that any kind of process takes time, results may not come into sight immediately but the wait will be worth it, after all, no hard work done by the heart goes in the bin. Think big, remain positive and relish the journey!
